Context
Posts you wrote on Instagram and Threads are hard to find again inside those apps. Social Finder keeps your own posts on your computer so you can search and reread them, and use earlier sentences as a starting point when you write something new. It does not post on your behalf or schedule posts.
Decisions and implementation
- The React interface runs inside Tauri, backed by a Node.js sidecar and a Rust host. The sidecar handles the archive (SQLite) and the Instagram and Threads API calls; the Rust host handles the OAuth callback, the operating system’s secure storage, and supervision of the sidecar. Archived posts and sign-in tokens stay on the user’s computer.
- One version in the app’s package.json keeps Tauri and Cargo aligned, and each release tag points at the commit that produced the signed installers. Installed apps ask an update address that a Cloudflare Worker answers from the release manifest in R2, and they accept only builds whose signature checks out.
- The sales site is a static Next.js site with separate Korean, English, and Japanese pages. When a Paddle checkout completes, a webhook issues a product key and emails it, and the purchase button is opened and closed by an operator setting rather than a build value.
Current status
Windows and Mac installers went public at catalog.firstage.ai/socials in October 2026, and version 1.3.0 shipped on October 17. Every feature is free; removing ads costs KRW 5,000 once per computer. Meta’s app review and the acceptance check for searching ordinary accounts are still in progress.
