HooneyFounder of Firstage · Product Engineer

I build services made to last, from first idea to running business.

I founded Firstage and build its service, which turns photos and places into a record of everyday life, from planning to operations. Since 2016 I have gone deep on products where complex interaction comes together: editors, SDKs, checkout, and design systems.

The first screen of the Firstage homepage, with the headline 'Your days, collected. Your stories, shared.' among scattered photos.
FirstageWhen you upload photos, the time and place they were taken connect, so scattered days are easy to find again and share with the people close to you.

At Firstage I own planning, development, infrastructure, and operations myself. I grow shared technology such as canvas, editor, and map engines inside that product, and I also build and run ROUND, a service for grassroots sports events, and TacticFrame, a football tactics board.

Before that, I went deep where complex interaction meets the needs of several teams. At Yogiyo I unified separate ordering flows and platform-specific webview bridges into one structure. At Channel Talk I built a collaborative editor for support conversations and tools for working with customer data.

I don’t stop at turning a design into code. I have coordinated schedules and priorities, built technical agreement across teams, set up code review and verification practices, and handled onboarding for junior engineers and technical interviews. My strength is reading the user experience and the operating constraints together, then shaping each necessary change into something that lasts.

How I work

I carry a decision past the plan, through implementation, verification, and operation. I hold a button label and an infrastructure bill to the same standard, and when a finished piece shows a clear improvement, I make it there and then.

For repetitive implementation, AI agents (Codex, Claude Code) draft code and tests, and I own the design and the review. I write down why each decision was made and how it was verified, so the next person can continue the work.

My main stack is React, TypeScript, Next.js, NestJS, and PostgreSQL.
